Education is customized. Children are different and thus learn differently. A curriculum developed with the assumption that all children learn the same way is bound to leave many behind. Our unit mastery-based system requires students to master a concept before it allows them to move on to the subsequent subject matter.
Success Coaches provide individualized follow-up with each student; they go over progress or lack thereof and address issues by providing the type of assistance the students need. They can also be called upon to provide technical assistance for system-related issues. Success Coaches call and check on students and their parents on a regular basis.
Uninterrupted education. Virtual learning means no pandemic, social or political unrest or other unforeseen predicaments can affect the teaching-learning process. Any situation that will require brick-and-mortar schools to close will not affect virtual learning allowing the students to continue learning from the comfort of their homes.
One of the very unique features of virtual learning is its flexibility. Students who are athletes-in-training, students in the performing arts who travel frequently, homebound students due to health reasons, and parents who travel frequently but would like to bring their family along are offered an incredible opportunity to pursue their dreams fully while enrolled in school full time. Virtual school ensures that students can learn anytime and anywhere as long as there is access to the internet.
Academic and career counseling for high school students. 11th and 12th-grade students will have access to AP and dual enrollment classes as well as one-on-one academic counseling and assistance for college preparation and application.
True International education where students are taught international curriculum by certified, experienced teachers. Our students receive US-accredited private school education allowing them to compete with their contemporaries from across the globe.
AVLA’s video-based program offers enriching and interactive learning. Each course in our 1-12 grade program utilizes high-definition video technology and is taught by US-certified teachers.
Interactive Hands-On Learning
Classes are pre-recorded to allow students to keep typical school hours, unlike live classes which are affected by the time difference between Africa and the US.
Lessons consist of pre-tests, video lectures, automated writing tutors, special assignments, interactive practice problems, help videos, and features where students can problem-solve or do more exercises to help master concepts.
Students are provided with practice problems immediately after a lecture video to ensure they understand the concept they have just learned and can implement it to solve a problem.
Students are assigned daily goals to assist them in organizing their schedule. Hands-on learning material is available during each educational unit, which allows students to engage in higher-order thinking such as writing development and research skills. At the end of each educational unit, students can take advantage of a review prior to taking the exam. These reviews provide extra help videos that assist the student in mastering the concept they have just learned.
